Moving automatic payments

When you're ready to open your new account, bring or have on hand recent statements from any businesses where you have automatic payments.

Here are a few of the common automatics people have:

  • Mortgage or rent
  • Phone
  • Cable
  • Electric or water utilities
  • Netflix or other streaming services
  • Gym or health club
  • Insurance

Our bankers can help you switch your automatics, or you can switch them easily once you sign up for and log in to online banking with Bell.

To set up each automatic payment, you (or your banker) will need to complete:

  • Service provider name
  • Provider address
  • Provider phone or fax number
  • Your account number with that company
  • Payment amount
  • Billing date and recurrence

Make sure you've canceled any automatics from your old account! Once you set up your new automatic payments, we recommend you keep both your "old" and "new" accounts open for a period of 6 to 8 weeks. Monitor both accounts until you're sure your automatics have all switched over to your new Bell account.
